My Healing Heart Blocks

These lovely blue healing hearts blocks were given to me over the last few months from my dear lady friends from my Wednesday craft group "Crafty Chicks" after I had a operation last September.
Will be looking at maybe putting the block together over the next few months. Just have to find the right fabric and maybe some ninepatch blocks inbetween each heart.
Just any idea.

Its been sometime since I have posted to this blog. I have been unwell after an operation I had in September. The photo of my two boys sleeping on the bed that I used downstairs. Now I am on the mend and having to start thinking about Christmas etc.

I have one present made and ready for Christmas. Will show you all after Christmas.

Getting back into my craft and I have been finding and finishing off some cushions UFO's that I had in my cupboard the last week or so.

I have finished two cushions and the third the logcabin 14" block will be done over the weekend. I hope!!! I would like to find another UFO block ( or Make one) to make a fourth cushion for my lounge

The lovely little cat is another kit I find sitting in my cupboard and yesterday I made it. Lavender is now sitting on my computer desk in pride of place near my Quilting Novels by Jennifer Chiaverini

The wool is a lovely blue a bit darker than this photo.

Cooking Day

Today has been a cooking day again...

Tuesday is a day that I try to stay home and cook.

I love soup and here is my Pea and Ham soup cooking with a ham rib showing in the pot

DH loves my Banana Muffins.

I use a pack of Woolies Homebrand Butter Muffin Mix and add one or two fresh banana's. Mix well. Yummy!!

Quilts

Its been sometime since I have blogged been busy with life!!!!!
As always there is housework, looking after the Males in my life and the furry ones to.

I have been finishing UFO's and I have finished piecing a Christmas Present that is now at Hobbysew waiting to be quilted.
So looking good.

The UFO I finished is a lap quilt made with log cabin blocks and I unpicked the block and rearranged them so now there is no need to do any applique in the centre of each block.

Here is the what the block started as (This block is from a completely different quilt but its shows how I changed the pattern) and now here is the finished quilt. The last photo shows the quilting close up. I pick a lovely paisley pattern using blue thread.

Zygocactus and more

Early one morning last week I had my camera in hand and here is what I ended up with. I have a passion for plants for many years and different size shade houses but this is the larges of all.
The Pergola is at the side of the house and is entered by the back door. My DH closed the pergola area in with shade cloth and lattice so it can be used by my two furry boys as a playroom. The Boston Ferns are loved by Darcy as he can hind under the leaves and hunt for small critters and me when its time to come inside before dark.

Last Post re bag

Last week I posted on my blog a bag that I have just finished. On Friday I found at the local newsagency a new mazagine with the pattern for the Roomy Craft Tote.
Country Patchwork Vol 9 no4. has the bag on the front cover.

Tote Bag

One more wip finished as of last friday night. This bag is big enough for all my quilting things for when I go to patchwork on Wednesdays.
I have added a fassy cut peice of the fabric to the front pocket as you can see in the close up photo.

The Roomy Craft Tote bag pattern is in Australian Patchwork & Stitching magazine Vo.8. no. 11 by Leanne Valiukas

Mum's Quilt

This is a quilt that my MIL made with the fabric that she was given as a present from me. The reason I have this quilt is Mum and Dad were in a car accident the day before Mothers Day. Mum now has a broken knee and sternum but they are both ok now. Mum will take a little while to heal.

The quilt landed at my place to be finished off and taken to the local patchwork shop to be quilted and the blinding sewed on and the label made. The label was fun as i used my embroidery machine.

The fabric use was "Fig and Plum" jelly roll, charm pack and a few metres of fabric for the borders.
Here is a photo of the back of the quilt that shows the lovely rose pattern of the quilting.

The Quilt pattern is called "Spring is in the Air" by Maree StClair from Australian Patchwork & Quilting magazine Vo. 17 no.3

In our Garden

My DH loves garden's not grass and everywhere we have plants now. These three flowering plants are all in gardens DH made in our backyard where once was a pool.

The top plant with the pretty lavender coloured flowers is planted in the top gardens near the clothes line and the bird cages.
The Camellia's are near the side fence near the pond which was once the pool area.
The light pink camellia is one of the plants DH got from the council in one of the free plants give aways that we have each year in the local area.
I just love this time of year in the garden with all my Camellia's flowering.

Fabric--French General

Yesterday while I was at patchwork shop to purchase a Garden Party jelly roll and some fabric (Shop had 20% off for all June) so I could make the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along ( see tab at side)and guess what I found.
There was a quilt made with Rural Jardin by French General fabric which I just love. Today there was another trip to Penrith and here is what I have now all the blue fabric's in the range to make a quilt plus the pattern that I got yesterday.
As you can see Darcy approves of my purchase and has made himself very comfortable on my Boxy Stars quilt which only has hand sewing to be done and the pattern and the new fabrics.

My furry boys.

My two boys do love to show off. Rusty is happy to sit on his scratching post and look out the back window. As you can see he loves his photo taken.
Darcy is ready for sleep and Mum is to slow in getting a blanket to put on the lounge.
Very spoiled boys are my two furry ones.

Rusty my big beautiful boy

Rusty is a cute large cat when he wants to be.
This photo was taken by DH one night last week in May when I had all the washing handing inside as the weather over the last few weeks has looked like rain and now this week we did get rain and boy did it rain.
Anyway back to my big boy Rusty the photo was taken because he does not jump he is to big and heavy but he found his way up on top of my bear bookcase. Rusty jumped from the cat scatching post over to the bookcase and this is the cat that can not climb onto the top of my African Violet stand or the cat cage outside to get Darcy

The beautiful fabric in the BOM is called Beach House by Blackbird Designs (Moda) The photo of the upside down cat is Rusty one of my furry boys who loves his new cat scratching post with the cave a the bottom that he loves to hide in.

More WIPs

More of my WIP's.
The Quilt was started at the Retreat 2009 and was finished at this years retreat last March. The pattern is called Boxy Stars by Bonnie Hunter. The quilt only has the blinding to be stitched down and a label added.
The Bag called Roomy Craft Tote
designed by Leanne Valiukas from Australian Patchwork and Stitching mag Vol 8 No 11 is made with the QAYG method and has only the bottom to be attached. I started the bag before this years retreat as it was the workshop for the retreat.
I changed the bag a little by adding a piece of fabric to the small front pocket instead of the applique cotton reels.

WIP's

Here are the finished panels for the bag that was in a earlier post. Just have to fine the time to make the bag and all the other UFO's!!!!!

Oh me!!!!!
